Who are we?
We are a team of queer and allied researchers interested in the experiences of queer, trans and nonbinary people who have used midwives in Ontario, Canada. Read our full bios here.
Why are we doing this study?
Although midwives in Ontario care for 2SLGBTQ+ people, no studies have specifically examined how queer and trans people experience their midwifery care. Also, no studies have examined how queer and trans people’s experiences of midwifery are shaped by oppressions such as racism, ableism, or poverty. Our project addresses these research gaps.
Who do we want to recruit for our study?
We are looking for participants who:
- Are queer and/or trans (including nonbinary identities)
- Are a birth parent, OR co-parent OR partner to a birth parent, who gave birth in Ontario with midwives within the past 3 years
- Are at least 18 years old
We would especially like to hear from queer and/or trans individuals who have disabilities, are racialized, or experience poverty.
